School in Uganda

For African Women, Inc.

Shifting Ideas Through Education

Accomplishments

S.I.T.E. for African Woman has already achieved some very important goals toward our mission.

· With the help of the Global Women of the Church of the Brethren and other individual donors, sales of books, bookmarks, and cards, we have purchased land for the Women’s Awareness Center in Uganda.  Two temporary buildings have been raised and are being used for meetings and classrooms.

· Sabina Stella Santana has given over 185 awareness talks in the U.S.A and her work is continuing.

· Women in Uganda and other countries have heard about our struggle. They are taking courage to speak out against oppressive traditions.

Immediate Goals

This year’s (2007)  trip is: 1. to follow up on the work we did
during the 2006 trip.
2. To fill in the gaps of the documentary (Omukazi) that we missed on that trip due to  lack of time.

Goals for our June trip:

· Renew hope in African Women and girls.

· Continue to hear their
stories and empower them by documenting their struggles.

· Model alternative
lifestyles.

· Create materials for use for fundraising and
education in the U.S.
