The 2012 Crisis!

2012 is the year for circumcision of young girls in Uganda!

It is VITAL that we support these girls in their efforts to stay in school so that they are not forced into this practice OR into premature marriage.

We also want to extend a hand to women who are struggling to support themselves and their children.

At SITEAW, Inc. we strive to empower women and girls to stand up and make a change within their tribes and communities.

Please consider purchasing an item (proceeds go to the women and girls) or a donation to help empower women and young girls in Uganda!

You can also directly support a specific girl.  Your contribution helps to place her with a host family chosen by the nuns in Uganda, and will allow her to go to a private school or boarding school.

Messages from Women, Girls, & Sponsors

  • I watched the video and it broke my heart. I have known about female circumcision for years and I am appalled that it is still happening.   I want my voice to be heard. This procedure is unnecessary and inhumane.   This procedure treats women like animals.   IT IS WRONG.

~Sharon M. Skrapits-Kirkham, Director of Ladies Ministry La Porte Assembly of God (U.S.A)

  • Please sister, send my greetings to all the members of St. Bridget’s Church. Tell them that I am very happy for their help. I keep smiling when I think of the bright future ahead of me now. I pray that the struggle to save the other girls may also be successful.

~Lillian Tendet (Uganda), is a Sabiny girl sponsored by St. Bridget’s Church.  She got a chance to remain in school and not be circumcised.  Lillian Tendet graduated from Computer School on May 15th, 2008, thanks to the support from St. Bridget's Church in Indianapolis, IN.

  • My dream is to let the world know that we are forced into FGM and that if we don’t join hands, we will not be able to stop this practice.  Thank you so much, my life changed a lot since I met you.

    ~Valentine Nkoyo, Masaai, Kenya (Survivor)

  • I will be so happy to be a presenter at the FGM International Convention. I am trusting that my contribution will make a difference in the fight against FGM.

~Patrick Kitiyo Sabiny tribe researher, Uganda

  • I have yet another piece of good News to share: A group of Girl Scouts from Michigan City led by their leader Daiva Mockaitis, have joined our struggle of keeping the girls in school to save them from being circumcised. The Girl Scouts raise money by selling cookies. This year (2008) they have been able to sponsor 4 girls (8-12 years) from the Sabiny tribe in Uganda.

~Thank you so much to Daiva and the Girls Scouts!
